Neptune

From λ LUMENWARD

Neptune is the eighth planet from the Sun in the Solar System. It is an ice giant characterized by a deep atmosphere, strong winds, and a system of rings and moons.

Neptune is discussed in planetary science, atmospheric physics, and celestial mechanics.

Status

Neptune has been observed telescopically since the nineteenth century and studied through limited spacecraft observation. Models of its internal structure, atmospheric dynamics, and magnetic field continue to be refined.
