Hubble's law

From λ LUMENWARD

Hubble's law describes the observed relationship between the distance to a galaxy and its recessional velocity. It is used to characterize large-scale cosmic expansion.

Hubble's law is discussed in cosmology, extragalactic astronomy, and observational astronomy.

Status

The relationship is supported by redshift and distance measurements of galaxies. Its quantitative form has been refined through improved observations and calibration methods.
