Eris

From λ LUMENWARD

Eris is a dwarf planet located in the scattered disk region beyond the Kuiper Belt. It is characterized by a large mass relative to other known dwarf planets and a highly eccentric orbit.

Eris is discussed in planetary science, solar system dynamics, and the study of trans-Neptunian objects.

Status

Eris was identified in the early twenty-first century. Its discovery contributed to revisions in planetary classification. Observational data continue to inform models of its mass, composition, and orbital behavior.
