Magnetosphere is a region of space surrounding an astronomical object in which its magnetic field dominates the motion of charged particles. It forms through interaction between the object’s magnetic field and surrounding plasma.

Magnetospheres are discussed in space physics, astrophysics, and plasma physics.

Status

Magnetospheres are observed around planets, stars, and some compact objects through in situ measurements and remote sensing. Models describe their structure, dynamics, and response to external particle flows.
